Some responses to questions we were asked lots on our wedding day:

Q:   What was the sparkling wine you served?

A:   It's Fresita; a berry-infused Chilean Rosé.

Q:   Where are you going on your honeymoon?

A:   We're off to the Azores.  It's an archipelago of nine volcanic islands in the Atlantic, renowned for their tranquility and natural beauty.  Watch this space for photos...!

Q:   What kind of make-up did you use?

A:   Although it looked like henna, the leaves were actually dark airbrushed foundation applied
      through a stencil and hand painted with gold. The eyelashes were feathers!  Both hair and
      make-up were done by Dyanna and Anita at Lash - www.lash.moonfruit.com/

Q:    What were the poems you read?

A:    Both were by Brian Patten; Carl read 'Into My Mirror Has Walked' and Deb read 'Her Song'.

         Into My Mirror Has Walked

         Into my mirror has walked
         A woman who will not talk
         Of love or of its subsidiaries,
         But who stands there,
         Pleased by her own silence.
         The weather has worn into her
         All seasons known to me,
         In one breast she holds
         Evidence of forests,
         In the other, of seas.

         I will ask her nothing yet
         Would ask so much
         If she gave some sign-

         Her shape is common enough,
         Enough shape to love.
         But what keeps me here
         Is what glows beyond her.

         I think at times
         A boy's body
         Would be as easy
         To read light into,
         I think at times
         My own might do.

         Her Song

         For no other reason than I love him wholly
         I am here; for this one night at least
         The world has shrunk to a boyish breast
         On which my head, brilliant and exhausted, rests,
         And can know of nothing more complete.

         Let the dawn assemble all its guilts, its worries
         And small doubts that, but for love, would infect
         This perfect heart.
         I am as far beyond doubt as the sun.
         I am as far beyond doubt as is possible.

Q:   What was the piece read by Matt and Sacha?

A:   It's an extract from 'The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers' by Tolkein, and refers to a part in the story where the Ents (treefolk) tell how they became separated from their wives, and their quest to be reunited with them.

         MATT: When Spring unfolds the beechen leaf, and sap is in the bough;
         When light is on the wild-wood stream, and wind is on the brow;
         When stride is long, and breath is deep, and keen the mountain-air,
         Come back to me! Come back to me, and say my land is fair!

         SACHA.: When Spring is come to garth and field, and corn is in the blade;
         When blossom like a shining snow is on the orchard laid;
         When shower and Sun upon the Earth with fragrance fill the air,
         I’ll linger here, and will not come, because my land is fair.

         MATT: When Summer lies upon the world, and in a noon of gold
         Beneath the roof of sleeping leaves the dreams of trees unfold;
         When woodland halls are green and cool, and wind is in the West,
         Come back to me! Come back to me, and say my land is best!

         SACHA : When Summer warms the hanging fruit and burns the berry brown;
         When straw is gold, and ear is white, and harvest comes to town;
         When honey spills, and apple swells, though wind be in the West,
         I’ll linger here beneath the Sun, because my land is best!

         MATT: When Winter comes, the winter wild that hill and wood shall slay;
         When trees shall fall and starless night devour the sunless day;
         When wind is in the deadly East, then in the bitter rain
         I’ll look for thee, and call to thee; I’ll come to thee again!

         SACHA : When Winter comes, and singing ends; when darkness falls at last;
         When broken is the barren bough, and light and labour past;
         I’ll look for thee, and wait for thee, until we meet again:
         Together we will take the road beneath the bitter rain!

         MATT : Together we will take the road that leads into the West,
         SACHA: And far away will find a land where both our hearts may rest.

Q:   What was the song you chose for your first dance?

A:   It's 'Crash Into Me' by the brilliant Dave Matthews Band.

Q:   Did you enjoy your day?

A:   It was absolutely perfect - everything we'd hoped for, with warmth, friendship and love in abundance, & the added delight of ducks!  Thank you all for making it so special by being there to share it with us.
